#CountryKids and Wonderful Wild Women Hiking to Easedale Tarn

Country Kids from Coombe Mill Family Farm Holidays Cornwall

A friend had suggested that I join the Wonderful Wild Women group on Facebook as I love the outdoors. Today we managed to get out with them for a hike from Grasmere to Easedale Tarn:

About a dozen of us and 3 dogs met up in the rain to do the walk. There were times when it was hard to tell where the path and river were separate:

When we came out of the woods we could see the waterfall which we would have to walk next to to get to the tarn:

With all the wet weather there was plenty of water tumbling down the hillside:

Luckily on the steep part of the path it is well kept and there wasn't much water or mud:

I think my children enjoyed the hike despite the weather:

We were all very rosy cheeked and wind blown:

However the views made it worthwhile:

Easedale Tarn itself was a little gem:

It was so wild at the top that we had to drop back down a bit to find a little shelter to grab a bite to eat:

We didn't stay long though as it was oh so cold. Even the Herdwicks didn't look all that happy:

It was a relief to get off the hillside and to have the wind and rain drop as we reached the bridleway:

We had to balance carefully to negotiate the path back along the river:

Then we had to leap across the stepping stones to get back to the bridge:

Our finally section before the road was a bridge across the river:

We then retreated to the Miller Howe Cafe for either cake or a belated brunch to warm up:

We look forward to more adventures with the Wonderful Wild Women in future!
